Gross Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections are the monthly total of GST on domestic supplies and on imports, before refunds.

  • GST was introduced on 1 July 2017 by the 101st Constitutional Amendment, and the GST Council under Article 279A recommends its rates and rules.
  • In the GST Council the Centre holds one third of the weighted vote and the States two thirds.
  • Central GST and State GST are shared between the Centre and the States, and Integrated GST is levied on inter State supplies and on imports.
  • Net collections are what remains after refunds are deducted from gross collections.
  • Since September 2025 most goods fall in two main slabs, 5 and 18 per cent.
